Lost a Pet?

We know that sinking feeling that comes with discovering your furry best friend is missing. The sooner you begin your search, the better your chances of being reunited with your lost pet. Here are some steps you can take inside and outside your neighborhood to help improve your chances of finding them.

 

Contact the Shelter​

1. Start by taking a look at our Pets on Stray Hold.

2. Contact the shelter and provide a detailed description of your missing pet. CASA staff will see if your pet is currently at the shelter or has been reported as found by a private party.

3. Email casa@camanoanimalshelter.org with your pet’s photo, name, age, location where the animal is missing, and your name and contact information. Staff will keep this information on file at the shelter.

4. Keep checking the Pets on Stray Hold on our website. Also, please periodically check in with us via phone or email

5. Once your pet has been found, contact CASA to remove the Lost Pet Report.

 

More Steps to Find Your Pet

• Post descriptive flyers in your neighborhood and within a several-mile radius of your home with a description of your pet and your phone number. 

• Check Resources for links to other local animal shelters, rescue groups, and missing pet links.

• Place ads online through social media and other websites, e.g., Craigslist and Next Door, with free found ads. See Resources.

• If you are on Facebook, join the local Lost and Found Facebook group. See Resources.

• If your pet is microchipped, call the chip company to let them know it is missing. It is essential to keep your contact information up to date. You can do this even if your pet is missing as long as you have the microchip number.

 

CASA holds stray animals for five days.  Animals not claimed within five days become the property of CASA and then receive necessary medical care before being made available for adoption

Pets on Stray Hold

The pets in the window below are at the shelter on their five-day stray hold.  Owners of animals on stray hold are required to provide proof of ownership.  You are always welcome to visit the shelter in person.
